This slideshow was presented at the NOVL Conference (Network of Volunteer Leaders).
Building a community takes time and effort, but most importantly it takes a genuine interest in others.
Each year, NOVL hosts an annual professional development conference to bring together people from across the state who work with, or depend upon, volunteers or are associated with organizations that do. This annual gathering provides an important opportunity to work towards achieving a collective vision of an active and caring community in which volunteerism and volunteer leadership are a vital and integral part of sustaining and contributing to Hawaii’s heritage.
Gwen was invited to present at the 2012 NOVL Conference. The theme of the conference was “The End of the World: What the Mayans did not tell us about Volunteer Management”, and the primary focus was volunteer recruitment, engagement and recognition. So how do you sustain volunteer programs through social media? Answer: engage! Watch the slideshow for insight.
