Social Media Best Practices

Class Description

This slideshow is from a social media for business series we teach at Pacific New Media, University of Hawai’i at Manoa Outreach College. We present a slideshare during class and then after class we give our students a slideshare that includes tips, tricks and class discussion. In this version, discussion notes are included.

You have picked up the lingo “Follow Us on Twitter, Like Us on Facebook” but what does that mean in practice? Social media is intended to be both holistic and strategic. Who you friend, how you converse, what content you share, all tells a story of who you are as a company. Examine social media best practices for business including: privacy and policy, why a strategy is important, what the “social” in social media looks like, and why you need to produce original content. Learn why and how to listen, why it is critical to keep your content significant and shareable, and how to avoid the pitfall of fits and starts. See social media`s big picture purpose, the best and newest ways to market your business, and tactics to improve your marketing with Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest and YouTube.

Bring your laptop and be ready to ride the wave of this fast paced 3 hr class!
