Social media is a brave new world of limitless potential and growth, and like any new territory it comes with its own set of rules. It has forever changed the way you will talk to your audience. You can’t just shout your message from the rooftops anymore because there is no humanity in that. People won’t listen to reconstituted messages–they want genuine conversation, the personal (albeit via keyboard) touch.
Social media is ruled by crowd wisdom, and is therefore regarded as one of the few havens of honesty and authenticity in our marketing-saturated world. Product reviews go viral overnight as friends share their brand experiences, both good and bad. And friends believe friends. Imagine the potential of “friend marketing.”
Social media has personality, is less formal, and simply more fun. Suddenly, solopreneurs have the same reach as the big boys and girls. And now on this uninhibited platform, you get to have a two way conversation with your audience to share knowledge and create awareness. The best news is people connect to you because they want to. They “friend” you, become a fan, “like” your page or follow you because they want to hear what you have to say. You’ve got their ear, now what are you going to do with it?
